What You Need To Know About Red Wine

There are many award winning red wines redding ca available to enjoy and it helps to know more about them before you take your first sip.

Zinfandel

Zinfandel is considered an American wine because the majority of the grapes are grown in the USA. This is an easy-to-drink wine that is high in alcohol content and has a fruity taste with some spices thrown in to round it out. It pairs well with any food containing cheese or a tart sauce.

Pinot Noir

Pinot Noir is an excellent choice to try as your first wine. It has a silky, fruity taste with an underlying earthiness and a light finish. Pinot Noir is one wine that tastes delicious with a fish dish because it is low in tannins.

Merlot

If you prefer a sweeter wine, Merlot is a great choice for you. It has a fruity taste with a smooth texture that is often described as velvety. This is a popular choice of vegetarians because it tastes great with any vegetable-based dishes, including pasta ones.

Cabernet Sauvignon

This is considered the wine for serious wine drinkers. It is also the most popular variety of all red wines. It has a bold flavor that is high in acidity with a tart, savory finish. It is high in alcohol content as well. Cabernet pairs well with fatty, salty foods, making it an excellent choice for a steak dinner.

These four wines are great choices to try as your first red wines. If you have a sweet tooth, opt for the Zinfandel or Merlot. For a tarter choice, try the Pinot Noir or ever-popular Cabernet.
